The subbed vs dubbed debate changed after my 40 episode run
My buddy swore I'd hate watching Frieren subbed because I started with dubs and he said the jokes would fly over my head. Three weeks and 40 episodes later, I actually caught more emotional beats in the original Japanese, especially the quiet scenes. Anyone else flip sides on this after giving a show a real chance?

Figured out the real difference is timing, not jokes... dub voice actors have to match the mouth flaps but sub lets the silence breath on its own, and that's where Frieren hits hardest.
