The anime merch wall at that San Jose con made me question my whole collection

I went to FanimeCon over the weekend and walked past this vendor booth that had every single wall shelf packed with figures, but they were ALL organized by anime and release year. Meanwhile my shelves at home are just a chaotic pile of whatever I grabbed on impulse. It got me thinking, I have about 140 Blu-rays and maybe 30 figures and I can't even tell you what's on the bottom row without pulling everything out. The vendor said he spends 3 hours reorganizing every time he buys one new item, and that honestly sounded insane but also kind of amazing. Has anyone else hit that point where your collection stops being fun and just becomes stuff you're storing? What's your system for keeping it manageable?

I saw a video last week where a guy showed his entire Gunpla collection with a barcode app and honestly it blew my mind. He scans each kit when he gets it so he can check what he owns from his phone. I ended up downloading the same app and started cataloging my own stuff, but I only made it through my shelf of movie soundtracks before giving up. That vendor at FanimeCon probably has some serious spreadsheet going on, which sounds like a part time job to me. I just sort by series now and accept that the bottom row is a mystery zone until I move apartments again.
