The 24 minute episode fact that rewired my binge habits

I was reading the wiki for Dororo last night after I finished it and found out the original 1969 series had 26 episodes, each only about 24 minutes. But the 2019 remake stretched that same story to 24 episodes with extra scenes and pacing. I never thought about how much runtime changes the whole feel of a show until I compared them side by side. Now I check episode counts before starting anything, because a tight 12 episode run hits way different than a padded 24. Has anyone else looked up the old vs new version of a series and felt like you watched two entirely different stories?
