That whole "subs vs dubs" debate is missing a bigger point

I saw a stat the other day that said over 60% of Crunchyroll viewers actually watch dubbed now, not subbed. Found it on some industry blog from last month. I always assumed the hardcore fans were all about original audio, but the numbers say most people just want to watch without reading. Is that really ruining the experience if it gets more people into anime?

That stat really made me rethink the whole subs vs dubs thing honestly.

The whole subs vs dubs debate is wild when you actually dig into the numbers. I heard a voice acting coach on a podcast say dubbing loses something like 30% of the emotional performance because they have to match lip flaps (which is honestly impressive they get even that close). Really makes you appreciate how much work goes into both sides though. Sometimes I'll watch a show subbed first then rewatch dubbed just to see what they changed in the translation, it's kind of fascinating.
