That time the sub group I joined had a 50 page rulebook before you could even post

Found this anime discussion group on a forum last week, thought it would be chill. Nope. Had to read through 50 pages of rules just to make a thread about why the pacing in the new season felt off. I spent 2 hours scrolling and still missed that you cant mention pirated sites even as a joke. Got a warning within 10 minutes of my first post. I just wanted to talk about episode 7 man. Anyone else run into these hyper strict groups that suck the fun out of it?

Oh man, I feel this so hard. I joined a retro gaming group once and they had a 40 page document just on how to format your post titles. I accidentally used the wrong bracket style in my first thread and got hit with a formal warning from some mod with no sense of humor. It's like, I just wanted to ask about the best way to clean cartridges, not apply for a job at their club. Stuff like that makes you wonder if the rules are there to protect the community or just to give the mods something to do.

Read a thing online not too long ago about some communities that have rules like that. This one forum apparently had a 50+ page rulebook that was written like a legal contract. People said the mods would spend hours arguing over whether a post used the right shade of blue in their header image. It's wild how some folks turn a hobby into a part-time unpaid job with spreadsheets and warning systems. Makes you miss the old days when you could just post "hey anyone know how to fix this?" and get a straight answer without needing a permission slip.
