That hyped anime everyone loves turned out to be a total bore for me

I waited 3 years to watch Attack on Titan because everyone swore it was the best thing ever. Finally binged season 1 last month and I just couldn't get into it. Am I the only one who felt let down after all that hype?

Oh man, it's like when everyone raves about a restaurant and you finally go and the food is just okay. Sometimes the hype builds something up so much that nothing could ever live up to it.

Give it at least until episode 6 of season 1, that's when the pace finally kicks in and the plot starts to make sense. I almost dropped it too but my buddy made me stick through the slow world building and I ended up binging the rest in two weeks. Try watching it with a friend or while doing something else, sometimes the hype just sets the bar too high for a first watch.
