Stumbled into a small anime theater in Osaka, never watched subs the same way
I was in Osaka for a week and found this tiny theater near Nipponbashi that only plays older anime films. Caught a 35mm showing of Akira there and the subtitles were projected below the screen, not over it. Felt like I was reading the movie instead of watching it, but in a good way. Anyone else ever seen a setup like that or is this just a Japan thing?

Honestly that sounds kinda backwards to me... having the subs way down there means your eyes are constantly darting away from the action. I'd probably end up missing half the animation trying to keep up.
