Spent $60 on a Crunchyroll membership for the wrong reason
I thought paying for Crunchyroll would get me ad-free anime, but I mostly just wanted to watch one specific show from 2012 that wasn't on any free sites. Turns out the membership gave me access to Simulcast stuff I didn't care about, and the old show still had ads on it. I learned you gotta check the fine print on what's actually ad-free before you pay. That $60 could have bought me the Blu-ray box set of that show instead. Anyone else get burned by assuming what a subscription covers?

Oh man, that's brutal. I did basically the same thing last year with a different streaming service. Paid for the premium tier thinking it got rid of everything, but nope, certain older shows still had the same old ads baked in. I was so annoyed I couldn't even finish what I was watching. Ended up cancelling after one month and just buying the DVD set off eBay for half the price. Felt real dumb for not checking the fine print first.

$60 for a Blu-ray box set sounds like the smarter move honestly, old shows barely get any love from streaming services.
