Pro tip: I found my anime sweet spot at a local convention panel
At Anime Expo last year I sat in on a panel about slice of life shows because I was bored and tired of big action series. The panelist broke down how shows like Mushishi focus on small moments and that finally clicked for me. Has anyone else had a random panel or talk change what they look for in anime?

You're acting like you discovered a hidden meaning to life or something.

Heard a podcast the other day where someone was talking about how people get all worked up over random ideas they find in books or online. It's like they read one thing and suddenly they're the wise sage of the group. Sure, discovering something new can be cool, but acting like you cracked the code to everything is just annoying. Most of the time it's just recycled stuff from some old philosophy class. You can tell when someone's just parroting something they heard without really living it.
