My friend told me to skip the first 20 episodes of One Piece and I'm glad I did

He said the East Blue saga drags and the real story starts at the Grand Line, so I jumped straight to episode 44. I got hooked on the Alabasta arc right away and went back to watch the start later. Who else thinks some long shows have a rough start you can skip?

Missing Luffy's backstory in those early episodes seems like a big deal though.

Remember when they skipped that whole arc in the anime? I just read the manga for those parts instead.
