Just realized my favorite subbed anime from 2019 had a completely different ending in the Japanese broadcast

Honestly, I was rewatching 'The Rising of the Shield Hero' the other day and noticed the last two episodes felt off on Crunchyroll. Turns out the streaming version trimmed 15 minutes of key scenes from the original Japanese airing, including a whole flashback that explains the queen's backstory. Ngl, I learned that some distributors cut content for time or pacing without telling anyone. I checked three other popular shows from that season and found two had similar edits. Has anyone else spotted missing scenes in their favorite series?

Right, so we're paying for the director's cut without knowing we're getting the bargain bin version lmao. Guess I'll just start pirating the raw Japanese broadcasts to actually see what happened. Maybe the streaming sites can call it a "surprise mystery box" feature.

The first season of 'One Punch Man' got hacked to pieces on Hulu back in 2016. I compared the streaming version to my Blu-ray copy and found like 8 minutes of footage missing from the final fight with Boros. The whole sequence where Saitama gets launched to the moon had extra dialogue and a few seconds of him floating around that just vanished from the stream. Mappa went all out on those animation cuts and streaming services just chopped them out like garbage. I get that runtime matters but this is getting ridiculous when we're paying the same price for less show.
