Just finished my 10th rewatch of Steins;Gate and noticed something new in episode 16
I've seen this show like 8 times before but this time I caught the phone microwave (name subject change?) actually showing 3 different date stamps during the D-mail scene. Never spotted that detail before and it made the whole time travel mechanic click in a way it never did. Anyone else find random new stuff after way too many rewatches of a show?

Maybe I'm just not paying enough attention but like... does it really change the show that much? It's a cool detail sure but the story still works the same either way.

The phone microwave name thing actually changes based on what Okabe's focusing on in any given scene, it's wild how much detail they packed into that prop. That date stamp detail you caught explains so much about why the D-mails have different levels of influence on the worldline. Every single time someone sends a message back, the date on the screen shifts to match exactly when the text will arrive in the past, not when it was sent originally. It makes you realize the show was basically spelling out its own time travel rules the whole time through background details most people miss. I've watched the dub and sub like 15 times combined and I still spot new stuff in the lab memos and phone screens every rewatch.
