I paid $150 for a 4K Blu-ray box set and the discs skip worse than my old VHS

Picked up the limited edition of an older mecha series last month. Thought remastered meant fixed. Nope. Disc 2 froze three times during the big final battle. I had to rewatch the climax on a pirated stream just to see what happened. Is this a known issue with Japanese releases or did I just get a bad batch? Anyone else got burned by a fancy collector's edition lately?

...and that's exactly what happened with my Gundam 0083 collectors box. Paid almost two hundred bucks for it and the disc with the last two episodes just refuses to play past the 20 minute mark. I tried cleaning it, tried a different player, even tried updating the firmware. Nothing. Had to watch the ending on a fansub site too. It's not just you, these fancy Japanese sets are hit or miss. They put all the money into the packaging and forget to actually test the damn discs.
