Heard everyone raving about that new isekai and rolled my eyes, but I gave it 3 episodes

Ended up binging the whole 24 episodes in one weekend because the character writing actually had depth, not just harem tropes. Has anyone else been surprised by a show they thought was overhyped?

Did I accidentally stumble into an actually good show or am I just that easy to please these days? I went in fully expecting generic power fantasy nonsense and ended up getting emotionally invested in the MC's struggle with loneliness. Guess sometimes the hype train actually stops at a decent station instead of driving off a cliff.

I read this article the other day that said the showrunner actually based the MC's loneliness on their own time living alone in a new city for two years. That explains a LOT honestly because the scene where he just sits in his apartment staring at the wall hit me way harder than I expected. Not the generic "I'm so powerful but nobody understands me" stuff you see everywhere. It was more like he genuinely didn't know how to connect with people even when they tried. The episode where he accidentally ruins a party by being TOO honest about his feelings really stuck with me too.
