Finally picked subbed over dubbed for a whole season

I always watched dubbed anime because I can multitask, but for Attack on Titan season 4 I forced myself to read subs. Took about 3 episodes to get used to it, but I caught way more emotional weight in the voices. Has anyone else switched and stuck with it?

The first time I tried going full subbed was around episode 15 of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. The English voice for Ed was fine, but the Japanese version had this raw anger in his shouts that just hit different. Did the emotional weight in AoT season 4 really change how you felt about certain scenes, or was it more about getting used to reading along?

Wait, you switched during episode 15 of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood? That's like the worst possible episode to jump into subs because you're already invested in the English voices by then. I had a friend who tried the same thing and gave up after like 2 episodes because Mustang's Japanese voice felt totally wrong to them at first. For AoT season 4, Eren's Japanese voice actor just completely sold me on his whole spiral into darkness (the way his voice cracks during certain speeches gave me chills). But switching during FMAB of all shows? That's some serious dedication to the sub life right there.
