Can we talk about skipping the recap episodes in the middle of a long series?
I know everyone says you gotta watch every episode to get the full story, but I skipped all the recaps in One Piece around episode 600. Saved me like 15 hours of sitting through stuff I already saw. The problem was I was losing steam and almost dropped the show entirely. Tried just jumping to the next canon arc after a recap and the story flowed way better. Has anyone else done this or am I the only one who thinks recaps are a waste of time?

Yeah, the "full story" thing is kind of a trap if you're honest with yourself. I started skipping recaps in Naruto around the war arc and it felt like I was suddenly breathing again. The recap episodes are basically a crutch for the studio to buy time, not actual storytelling. You're not losing anything important, you're just cutting out the part where the show repeats itself for 20 minutes before moving on. I say if a recap makes you want to drop the series, it's doing more harm than good.

Was I the only one who timed it and realized most recaps take up like a third of the episode anyway? I remember sitting there during one of the Naruto recaps thinking "I could be watching something I haven't seen before." @caseyfox you summed it up perfectly, skipping that filler stuff feels like a weight off your shoulders. I'll admit I even skipped a few non-recap episodes near the end and the story still made sense. It's almost embarrassing how easy it was to cut the fat.

My buddy @caseyfox skipped all the Naruto recaps and finally finished the series in half the time.
