Can we talk about how I used to watch anime at 2x speed and now I sit through every opener
Two years ago I was that guy who skipped every OP and ED and cranked the speed to 1.5x so I could knock out a 24 episode season in two nights. I was proud of it too, like finishing shows was some kind of scoreboard. Then last fall my buddy in Austin loaned me his copy of a slower slice of life show and told me to watch it at normal speed with the sound up, no phone in my hand. I tried it for like 3 episodes and honestly got bored, but somewhere around episode 6 something clicked and I noticed I actually remembered the side characters' names and small lines they said. Now I let the openers play every single time, even on rewatches, and I pause when something hits instead of pushing through. It takes me way longer to finish a season, like a month instead of a weekend, but I can actually talk about the shows with people instead of just saying yeah it was good. Anyone else make this switch, or am I just getting old and slow?
