Bounced off March Comes In Like A Lion three times before it clicked on a fourth try

It wasn't until I watched episode 6 during a slow Sunday afternoon when Rei was just eating dinner with the sisters that I finally got what everyone meant about the quiet moments carrying the whole show, has anyone else had an anime they kept dropping before it suddenly hit you?

Took me four tries to get through the first season of Mushi-Shi. I kept falling asleep on episode two, thinking nothing was ever going to happen. Then on a rainy Tuesday with nothing else to do, I let it play while I did laundry and suddenly I was crying over a bug that ate people's memories. Now it's one of my comfort shows and I still can't explain what changed. My watch history looks like I have commitment issues.

Haven't you ever just clicked with something because of your mood or where you're at in life? I get what you're saying about March Comes In Like a Lion but honestly I think sometimes people overthink why a show sticks. For me it's more about timing than any special quality in the episodes themselves. I tried Mushi-Shi three times too and it never clicked because I was too tired or distracted when I watched it. The fourth time I just sat down and let it happen without expecting anything and that's what made the difference. Sometimes a show doesn't need to be deep or different, you just need to be ready for its pace.
