Wasted $200 on a wireless alarm panel that dropped signal every 20 minutes

Installed a ProSense 5000 at a 3-story office building downtown last Tuesday. Thought I was saving time by going wireless. Ended up spending 6 hours running wires anyway because the signal kept dropping between floors. Customer was furious and I ate the labor cost. Anyone else run into those wireless panels that just can't handle multi-floor setups?

Yeah the ProSense 5000 is notorious for that, I had one in a two story house and it crapped out between floors too. What worked for me was switching to a wired mesh system with a dedicated backhaul or just running a single Cat6 to a hub on each floor, it's more work upfront but saves the headache. Those wireless ones are fine for a small apartment but anything with concrete or steel between floors is a disaster.

Yeah those wireless mesh systems can be finicky, I remember helping my buddy set one up in his old brick ranch house and we had to move the nodes around for like two hours before it worked. Ended up just drilling a hole through the floor and running a cable down to the basement, worked perfect after that.
