The retired electrician at my supply house said to label every wire, and 6 months later I owe him lunch
I was picking up some 22/4 wire at the supply house in Fort Worth back in March when this old guy named Dale looked at my panel work and said flat out, "kid, label both ends or you'll be back here cursing in a year." I blew him off, figured I'd remember which zone was which since I installed it myself. Fast forward to last Tuesday, I'm on a service call at a 4,000 sq ft house chasing a bad contact on zone 6, and I spent 90 minutes beeping wires because nothing was marked. Now every can and every keypad gets a label on both ends, sharpie and tape, takes 30 seconds. Any of you got a labeling system that actually holds up in a hot attic, because my tape keeps peeling by August.
