Talking to a locksmith at lunch made me rethink my panel placement

I was on a commercial job in Tulsa last Tuesday and grabbed tacos at this spot near the site. A locksmith sat down next to me, saw my van, and we got to talking about access points. He told me he's had to drill through three alarm panels because the installer put them right where a heavy door swings open. Said he's seen panels mounted behind shelving, inside coat closets, even one behind a water heater. That conversation stuck with me all afternoon. I always put panels where I can reach them easy, but I never thought about how someone else might need to get to it in an emergency. Now I'm second guessing a few installs I did over the last year, especially the ones in tight hallways. Has anyone else adjusted their panel placement after seeing how other trades interact with them? What's your rule for minimum clearance around a keypad?
