Panel beeped at 2am on a Tuesday install in Reno, found a door contact full of spider eggs
Wrapped up a 16 zone wireless panel in a Reno rental on a Tuesday and tested everything twice before I left. Got a call at 2am from the tenant saying the keypad was chirping every 30 seconds. Drove back the next morning and pulled the front door contact off the frame, and the little gap was packed with spider eggs and one dead cricket. The reed switch was fine, the bugs were just jamming the magnet seat so it kept opening the loop. Took 10 minutes to clean it out and swap in a sealed contact, no charge, and I haven't seen that panel again in 4 months. Now I stick a piece of foam behind every exterior door contact I install, but I'm wondering if anyone here has a better trick for keeping bugs out of those gaps.
