I finally dug out my original alarm testing gear from the garage
Had this clunky tone generator that weighed a ton and needed its own case. These days, a little handheld device does the same job without any fuss. It reminds me how much lighter and faster our kit has become over time.

I read an article last month about some telecom techs who still keep their old butt sets for troubleshooting. They said the new digital testers can glitch in ways the simple analog gear never did. Sometimes the old heavy stuff just worked when you needed it to.
