A security guard's comment about panel placement caught me off guard
Guy at a loading dock in Newark told me he never checks the keypad if it's mounted below shoulder height because he's always carrying something, and now I'm second-guessing every install I've done the last 3 years, anyone else factor in what the client's hands are doing when you pick that spot?

Had a similar thing happen at a warehouse in Elizabeth last month, guy told me he kicks doors open with his foot when his hands are full so the keypad needs to be low enough for a toe tap or it's useless to him. Blew my mind because I've been mounting everything at chest height forever just out of habit from my first job. Now I'm watching people walk through doors everywhere I go, like at the grocery store or my own office, just to see where their hands actually are when they reach for stuff. Dude carrying a box of copy paper is not gonna set it down to punch in a code, he's gonna shoulder the door or wait for someone else. Been going back through my old jobs in my head trying to remember if I ever put one somewhere a guy with full hands could actually use it.
