A neighbor's offhand comment about false alarms got me rethinking my panel settings

Overheard a guy at the parts counter say he turned his driveway sensor sensitivity down to 40% and cut his night callouts by half. I tried it on three installs last month, one near a busy road in Phoenix, and the difference in nuisance alerts is nuts. Anyone else tune sensitivity that low or am I asking for a missed entry?

Wait, did you check the detection zone angle after you dropped the sensitivity? I ran into this exact thing on a rural job and found the real fix wasn't the sensitivity dial but the sensor tilt. Most people don't realize the beam pattern changes shape when you lower sensitivity, it gets narrower and picks up less ground reflection. So if you lower it to 40% without adjusting the head angle, you might be missing entries on the sides. I'd say check your narrowest path width first, then tune sensitivity. That Phoenix road noise is probably bouncing off the asphalt at a certain angle, so you can kill it by aiming slightly higher without losing that 40% setting. Just something to test before you commit to that as your new default.
