Wasted $400 on those fancy composite ratchets for the hangar
Bought a set of GearWrench composite ratchets thinking they'd be great for tight spots on 737s. After 3 months the heads started loosening up and slipping. Went back to my old Snap-on that's been clunking along for 8 years. Anyone else have bad luck with the composite stuff on heavy torque applications?

Buddy of mine bought those same ratchets for working on his dirt bike and had the same problem with the heads getting loose after a few months. He tried tightening the bolts but it didn't help and he ended up tossing them in the trash. He just uses a cheap Harbor Freight now and it's held up fine for him.

Man thats frustrating to hear about the ratchets. It feels like half the stuff you buy now is designed to break just past the return window. I see it everywhere not just tools but like kitchen gadgets and even clothes zippers on jackets. Its like companies figured out they can make more money selling you the same thing twice instead of making something that lasts. @wren_brown your friend mightve dodged a bullet honestly. Even cheap harbor freight stuff can outlast the name brand junk if you get lucky with the quality lottery. We need to start paying more attention to build quality instead of just the logo.
