Warning: I was about to order a new $800 part for a phantom pressurization fault
Kept getting an intermittent cabin altitude warning on a CRJ-700, but all the usual suspects checked out. My lead told me to just replace the outflow valve actuator, which is a huge job. Instead, I spent an hour with the manual tracing the wiring harness behind the forward galley. Found a single chafed wire, pin 14 on connector J47, rubbing against a clamp. Spliced it, wrapped it, problem gone. Has anyone else had a pressurization fault turn out to be something stupid simple like that?

Man, you ever hear about the phantom door light on a 737? Buddy of mine chased that for a week, turned out to be a loose ground wire behind a sidewall panel. Felt like a total hero for finding it.

Those intermittent faults are the worst. Makes you feel like a genius when you finally track it down though.
