Update: I found a weird trick for freeing a stuck bleed valve on a Cessna 172 brake line
Last week, a plane came in with a mushy right brake, and the bleed valve on the caliper was completely seized. I tried heat and penetrating oil for two days with no luck. Out of ideas, I grabbed a small brass punch and gave the side of the valve body a few sharp taps with a hammer while applying light pressure on the wrench. It broke free on the third tap without damaging the threads. Has anyone else had success with this method, or is it just asking for trouble?

Used to think tapping near threads was a bad idea. Your post made me try it on a frozen hydraulic fitting last month. It worked perfectly and saved a whole line replacement.

That trick with the brass punch... I see it differently. I've seen a guy crack a valve body doing that exact thing on an old Cherokee. It let go and we had to replace the whole caliper. Sometimes you just have to walk away and get a new part.
