Turning scrap aluminum into a practice sheet metal patch
I had some leftover aluminum from a hangar job and made a small patch to practice my riveting. It really helped me get the spacing right without using new stock. What do you all use for low-cost practice materials around the shop?

Totally! I salvage old license plates myself.

Salvage old plates? My friend found cash hidden behind one.

Oh for sure, I get that. I was actually telling @the_angela the other day about how I used some old road signs I found behind a gas station. They're thicker than regular sheet metal but perfect for practicing dimpling and countersinking without worrying about ruining good stock.
