Tried a new torque wrench calibration method from a guy in Anchorage and it threw my readings off by 15 foot-pounds.

I learned that not every shop trick translates, so what's your go-to method for checking your torque wrenches before a big job?

Seriously? That hanging weight trick sounds like a hassle. I just send mine out to get certified once a year and trust it until then. If a wrench is that far off, it's probably already broken and a DIY check won't save you.

Yeah, that's rough. I keep a known-good weight and a simple bar in my box. Hang the weight at a set distance, do the math, and check the click. It's not lab grade, but it catches big problems. Found my old beam style was still dead on, so I trust it to double check the clickers.
