The real problem with pipe threads is they seal on the taper, not just the threads. Even if you get an insert like black.derek mentioned, getting that seal right is tricky without the right tools. Might be why they're telling you the part is backordered instead.

SAE fuel line threads are a different spec than most helicoil kits, which are usually for spark plugs. You'll need a specific pipe thread repair insert for that, not a standard helicoil lol.

Try a helicoil kit if the threads are salvageable.
