Six million rivets later, I finally get what the old timers meant

I passed 6 million rivets installed over 20 years at the Delta hangar in Atlanta, and it hit me that my first mentor was right about "feeling" the set instead of watching it. That number made me realize I've been teaching apprentices wrong by focusing on visuals, has anyone else had a metric that changed how you work?

Feeling the set matters, but those 6 million rivets probably taught you more than any metric could.
