Pro tip: check your safety wire pliers before you start a job
Was doing a 100 hour on a Cessna 172 last month at my shop in Bakersfield. Went to safety wire a prop governor and my pliers just wouldnt grip right. Kept slipping and leaving rough tails. After fighting it for 20 minutes I realized the jaws were worn down from years of use. Had to borrow a coworkers pair to finish. Ordered a new set that night. Has anyone else had a tool suddenly fail mid job like that?

Man, that slipping issue is the worst, I’ve had a set of dykes just give up mid job too.

@carr.daniel I feel your pain, I once grabbed what I thought was my good pair of wire cutters and they just crunched instead of cutting. Made me look like I was trying to wrestle the wire into submission.
