My lead at the Anchorage hangar told me to torque the Cessna 172's nose gear bolts to 35 inch-pounds, not foot-pounds.

I was helping with an annual and almost used the foot-pound setting on my wrench. He caught it and said he saw a guy strip the threads doing that exact thing on a Piper up in Fairbanks last winter. It made me double-check every torque spec on the sheet after that. How many of you have had a senior mechanic save you from a similar mistake?

Thank goodness for sharp eyes, unlike patricianguyen's old boss in Juneau.

Honestly my old boss in Juneau was the one making those mistakes.
