Lost a full weekend to a $40 borescope that kept lying to me

Picked up a cheap borescope off Amazon to inspect some cylinder walls on a Cessna engine swap we were doing down in Fort Worth. First look showed what I thought was scoring, so I pulled the jugs apart and found nothing. Put it back together, ran a compression test, all good, but then the tool glitched and showed cracks on two other cylinders. Tore it down again, nothing again, wasted about 14 hours total across Saturday and Sunday. Turns out the resolution was so bad it was just showing dust and reflections. Has anyone else had a bargain inspection tool send them on a full wild goose chase like this? I'm about to just rent a proper one from the tool truck next time.
