Hit 10,000 hours of A&P labor last month without realizing it
I was just tracking my hours for a side project and noticed my logbook added up to 10,047 hours over 6 years of wrenching. Has anyone else hit a random milestone that caught them off guard like that?

Funny you mention that. I read somewhere that 10,000 hours is supposed to be the magic number for becoming an expert at something. But honestly, in my experience, hitting that mark just means you've gotten really comfortable with making the same mistakes faster. Your mileage may vary though. I think it's cool you've been tracking it for so long - most people just lose count after the first few years. Take this with a grain of salt because I've heard some people argue the 10,000 hour rule isn't really backed up by science, just an observation Gladwell made. Either way, hitting a round number like that feels good, even if it doesn't mean you're a master.

That thing about getting comfortable making the same mistakes faster really hit home for me... I spent like 3 years learning to knit and I got really fast at making crooked scarves. My grandma tried to teach me proper tension but I just kept doing my own thing. Then one day I tried a new pattern and realized I'd been holding the yarn wrong the whole time. It's funny how you can build up all those hours doing something wrong and think you've got it figured out.
