Found out a 737 has around 30 miles of wire in it, and I had to sit down
I was flipping through a wiring systems course book in our break room in Boise and hit a page that said a 737 carries close to 30 miles of wire. I honestly thought that had to be wrong, so I looked it up online and found the same number from a couple of sources. Then I started thinking about how many connectors and grounds that adds up to, and it explains why chasing one intermittent fault can eat a full shift. Our lead says most of the wiring gremlins he sees trace back to chafing near a clamp or a pin that got pushed back in a plug. I have been doing this 9 years and I still learn something dumb like this on a slow morning. Has anyone else run into a number like that and just sat there for a minute?
