Finally got my A&P sign-off for the 737 MAX after three months of night classes

My instructor, Carl, handed me the logbook yesterday and just said 'you earned it'... the whole thing was a grind, especially those avionics systems on the MAX. Anyone else here had to get up to speed on the new fly-by-wire stuff recently? Looking for some real talk on the common snags.

Seriously, three months of night classes for a sign-off? I get that the MAX has new stuff, but is the fly-by-wire really that different from what you already knew? It's still just wires and computers telling the plane what to do. What's the big snag, just getting used to a new screen layout? Feels like they make it sound way harder than it is.

Oh man, you just compared it to a new screen layout? That's like saying learning to drive a semi is just getting used to a bigger steering wheel. The whole logic is different, how it handles stalls, speeds, even the trim. It's not just new buttons, it's a whole new rulebook they have to memorize so they don't bend the plane. Three months sounds about right to me.
