Rant: My sister's place in Austin made me ditch frozen fries for good

Honestly, I was at her house last month and she just threw some chopped russet potatoes in the basket with a little oil and salt. Ngl, they came out way crispier than any bag of store-bought stuff I've ever tried, and it took like 20 minutes. Who else has a simple from-scratch potato trick that actually works better?

I skip the soak and just dry them really well, they still get plenty crispy.

Soak those chopped potatoes in cold water for about 15 minutes first. It pulls out the extra starch, which is the real secret for getting them super crispy without burning. Just dry them really well with a towel before you add the oil.
