My frozen fries turned into a single, giant potato brick

I thought I was being smart by dumping a whole bag of frozen fries into my air fryer basket at once. The bag said 'crispy in 15 minutes,' but after 15 minutes, I opened it to find a solid, sad block of stuck-together potato. It looked like one of those foam puzzle pieces. I spent the next 25 minutes trying to break it apart with tongs and a fork, piece by piece, while the good bits got cold. The whole mess took about 40 minutes from start to finish for what should have been a quick snack. I learned the hard way that you really need to shake the basket halfway through, and maybe don't overload it. Has anyone else made a giant, weird potato cake by accident? What's your trick to keep fries from sticking together?

That shake halfway through is the real key to avoiding a potato brick.

Shaking it halfway is actually a huge mistake. It lets all the steam out, which is what makes the inside fluffy. You end up with a dry, crumbly mess instead of a solid brick. Just leave it alone and let the heat do its job.
